Twas the night before preschool

Before bed we read some books about school and talked about what we thought Mia would do on the first day of school.

I saw this poem online and adapted from being from the teacher to being from Jason and I.

The night before school is exciting and fun
There are always so many things to be done

Your clothes are ready, your backpack is too
Your classroom is full of fun things you will do

Lots of questions go through your mind
All types of thoughts, every kind

But sometimes we all get the jitters down deep
And that makes it hard to fall fast asleep

So I’ve made this magic confetti for you
Full of promises for the whole year through

On Wednesday night when you lay down your head
Just sprinkle some under your pillow in bed

The confetti will help you sleep through the night
And wake in the morning fresh and bright

Mommy and daddy are excited for all that you’ll do
Work hard and be kind…we’re so proud of you!

Mia was really excited to sprinkle the confetti {which she called sprinkles}.  She wanted to know if it would be there when she woke up and when she got home from school.  However, the confetti didn't work. A little while after we put Mia down to sleep she woke up calling for us {which she rarely does}.  She, and all of us, had some nervous/anxious energy.  We talked about her first day again, I layed down with her and then she fell soundly asleep.
