Your Three Words

Happy 5 Years!

On Friday, July 29th Jason and I celebrated our 5th anniversary!  Five years has really flown by and I am sure Jason would say the same :)

We dropped the girls off at GiGi and Bear's house.  GiGi and Bear prepared a poem and toast for us with our wedding song playing in the background (and made us dance to it).  Mia and Kayla joined in on the toast.

Every year we go out to dinner at the Reading Country Club where we had our wedding reception.

Every year we also follow the traditonal anniversary gifts.
First: Paper
Second: Cotton
Third: Leather
Fourth: Fruit or Flowers
Fifth: Wood
Sixth: Candy or Iron  ...So I can get a head start on next year, see below....I need it!:)

We always exchange our gifts at dinner.  We started with our cards.  We had to laugh at each other's cards since they were just about identical!  Without knowing it we both took a small piece of sample wood we had from our hard wood floors and taped our typed anniversary letter to it.  Our letters looked and sounded very similar.  We both put pictures at the bottom explaining what we wrote.  The gist of both of our letters had to do with celebrating 5 growth rings with our parents as the trunk, us as the stems and our girls as our flowers, thanking each other for providing nutrients our flowers so they can blossum, and how our roots are firmly planted into our marriage and that we would continue to nurture our relationship. We couldn't believe how alike (and cheesey) our letters were!

We usually agree to exchange small gifts on our anniversary (although Jason doesn't follow the rules), but ones that follow the traditional gifts for that year.  This month we got hard wood floors installed in our downstairs so we agreed that that was our gift to each other. However, I knew he wouldn't stick to the floors as my gift so I thought I would get him a little something for our house that we could enjoy together.  I searched and searched but couldn't come up with anything so I thought about getting him new golf clubs (woods) but when I talked to some of his friends they thought that would be something it would be better if he picked out.   So golf clubs was my first choice but I was advised to let him pick something like out so instead I got him.................

Wait for it, wait for it......

A wooden wind chime.  What a lucky guy :)

We like to sit outside on the patio and make a fire in our chiminea after the kids go to bed and I thought this would be a nice little something to add to the patio.  From golf clubs to a wooden wind chime??  When he opened his gift, he couldn't stop laughing and then neither could I.  He's been thanking me every since.

Jason's gift to me was a pink bike with a wooden basket for the front! I can't wait to ride it!  Jason is getting one too and we are going to get some carriers for the girls.

After dinner we went to pick up the girls and headed home. (these two have fun together doing the silliest things...here they are playing in the part of my parent's fireplace that holds the wood...I think they are playing in the wood part to remind us that they are our greatest gifts!)

You are the cheese to my macaroni
You are the horizon to my sky
You are the bacon to my eggs
You are the laces to my sneakers
You are the jelly to my peanut butter
You are the smile to my face
You are the gravy to my mashed potatoes
You are the bubble to my bath
You are the milk to my cookie
You are the ink to my pen
You are the lead to my pencil
You are the ketchup to my french fries
You are the water to my ocean
You are the icing to my cake
You are the colors to my rainbow
