tie dye initial shirts

Mia had a white shirt that had some stains on it so I thought to tie dye it and make it into a new shirt.  We bought some tie dye packets and used some fabric we had.

I found an old onesie of Kayla's, another stained shirt of Mia's and an old shirt of mine too to add to the bunch.  The girls and I used rubber bands to wrap the shirts in knots.  We ran out of rubber bands so we used hair ties to finish them.  We decided to use the pink dye so the girls mized the tie dye ingredients together.

We let them sit for a while, rinsed them in the sink and machine washed and dryed them.  In the meantime we printed out Mia's name and a K for Kayla.

Once the shirts were done (the colors lightened up a lot in the wash) I cut the letters out to use as guides when cutting the fabric.  I ironed on adhesive to the fabric, cut the letters, and then ironed them onto the shirts.

I handstiched around the K and plan to try my sewing machine to stitch around Mia's name.

To finished off the shirts I made some hair accessories to match.  Tie dying was fun and we are preparing for our next tie dying project.  The girls love their new shirts.
