Big Sis/Lil Sis

Mia as a big sis...
Mia is the best big sis. She is so loving, kind and gentle to her lil sis. She calls her "Kayka" or "Kayla Bean" and is always asking "Where's Kayla?". When Kayla first came home she called her "baby". Kayla sneezes a lot and each time she does Mia says "Bless you Baby." She loves to give Kayla kisses and wants to help us care for her. She likes to cover her with a blankie..."no head" she says... she's learned not to cover her head and only cover her legs and toes. She always makes sure that we take Kayla with us when we go somewhere...she even tries to carry her carseat. When Kayla cries Mia says "Don't cry" and runs to get her binky or asks Kayla if she wants to eat. She doesn't like to see Kayla cry and gets a concerned look on her face. Then she tries everything she can to make Kayla stop crying. Once she has tried all of Kayla's favorites, if Kayla doesn't stop crying Mia says to me "Kayla go nigh-night". Mia loves when all four of us dance together. Mia says new things everyday to Kayla that make us laugh so much. Each time Mia wakes up she calls for Kayla from her crib and when I get her, she asks for Kayla and gets so excited to see her again. Mia goes to find Kayla when she wakes up before she does anything else. Mia has to check on Kayla all throughout the day no matter what she is doing. At the young age of 2, Mia is already the protective and loving big sis watching over and caring for her lil sis.

Kayla as a lil sis...
Kayla loves to hear Mia's voice and watch her play. She gets excited when Mia is near her. Kayla, the lil sis, is a lot like Mia was as a newborn... very sleepy and very easy going. She makes many of the same faces and expressions as Mia when she was a newborn. It has been so fun to put Kayla in Mia's clothes and remember back to when Mia wore them. When we were at the beach Kayla wore the same outfit Mia did on her first trip to the boardwalk. We can't wait for Kayla to be able to play with her big sis and watch them grow together.

Kayla...
Kayla is very loving and loves to cuddle. She loves to be swaddled at night and when she is we call her our bean burrito. She loves car rides, stroller rides, her bouncy seats, her playmat and her swings. She is a great eater and eats every 2-4 hours during the day and every 4-8 hours at night. Her fussiest time is the few hours before she goes to bed for the night...she loves for me to hold her during this time...I don't mind :). She smiles now! She looks so cute when she wakes up and stretches out. She does not like when she gets the hiccups. Kayla is wearing newborn clothes and diapers and some 0-3 month and 3month clothes. She must have remembered Barney from when she was in my belly when Mia watched him because she turns her head to the tv when she hears him sing. Kayla sleeps alot during the day but lately has been awake more. Lately she has been going to sleep for the night around 11 pm and then waking up at 5 am and then at 9 am so mommy is getting some sleep too! The past 6 weeks have flown by and we are so in love with our new little girl.

Mia...
Mia is very into summer and loves being outside. She loves to ride her bikes and play in the pool. She likes to write on the driveway with sidewalk chalk. When we are inside Mia loves to draw and color, help me do chores, help me cook and bake, play with her kitchen, pretend, dress up, and play with her toys. She still loves her purple dinosaur bud Barney and now sings along with him and does the motions to the songs. She still loves to dance and comes up with great moves. She amazes us with what she picks up on and the new things she says daily. She loves to play with her friends. She throws a tantrum here and there and knows exactly what she wants! She picks up on the littlest things we do and say. She loves to help us around the house and learn how to do new things. She loves to cuddle with daddy before bedtime. Mia's favorite foods are blueberries, peaches, grapes, strawberries, raisins, pickles, smoothies, fruit snacks, broccoli and cheese, meatballs, steak, cucumbers, cherries, cheerios, puffs, yogurt, chicken nuggets, and french fries. Every day is a new and joyous adventure with our spirited little toddler.
